Josée Pharand | Business Development Officer
As the Business Development Officer – Entrepreneurship, Josée is responsible for the overall management and coordination of programs, services, staff and partnerships; and represents economic and business interests for the City of Greater Sudbury. Josée graduated from the Computer Engineering Technologist program at Collège Boréal. Following graduation, she completed an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University. She brings more than 12 years experience working with start-ups through the Regional Business Centre and as a Business Development Officer for the City of Greater Sudbury. Josée is passionate about supporting entrepreneurship and looks forward to working with IQ members with the goal of developing thriving entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in our community.

Mélissa Deschênes | Incubator Program Coordinator
As the Incubator Program Coordinator, Melissa provides leadership and support to early-stage innovative business start-ups through mentorship and workshops. Melissa is a former entrepreneur with 14 years of experience leading an award-winning design and web studio servicing clients internationally, She graduated from Cambrian College with an advanced diploma in graphic design and possesses accessibility certificates from Deque University. She has had the opportunity to judge several worldwide advertising competitions and speak at many events on topics ranging from inclusive design practices to women in entrepreneurship. As a sports coach and past college educator, her mentorship background paired with her entrepreneurial experience helps foster and develop business start-ups. Proud of her francophone roots, Melissa is happy to provide support in both French and English.

Jay Lemon | Marketing and Community Officer
As the Marketing and Community Officer, Jay is responsible for implementing the marketing and promotion of our programs and services. Over the past three years he has gained experience promoting community partners through the multiple sections of the Economic Development division with the City of Greater Sudbury. Since graduating from the University of Ottawa with a Commerce degree specializing in Marketing, Jay has worked on various marketing campaigns focused on promoting local businesses and attractions with our Economic Development team. Now as an IQ team member, he is excited to have the opportunity to work on the launch of Greater Sudbury’s newest incubator and to help grow local startups and encourage a community of entrepreneurs in Greater Sudbury’s downtown core.
